Johnny Karhi grew up on a small family farm in Desbarats, Ontario, where the values of hard work, honesty, and dedication were rooted early on. One of five siblings, he learned the importance of pulling together as a team and dreaming big. That drive led him to create Grand North Bison, where he began raising and selling high-quality, grass-fed bison with care and integrity. His passion for farming and love for the land naturally evolved into something greater, and today, he's proud to offer a wider variety of locally raised meats through Northorizon Farms.

What started as a small-scale dream has grown into a family-driven business built on quality, transparency, and community. With the recent opening of his own abattoir, Johnny now personally oversees every step of the process—from pasture to plate—ensuring the freshest, most ethically produced meat possible. When he's not out in the field or at the processing facility, you'll find him surrounded by his six beautiful children, who bring him endless inspiration and keep the heart in everything he does.
